Located on the shores of Lake Como, Varenna is a charming and medieval village, definitely one of the most beautiful in the entire area. Anyone who wants to see one of the lake’s most characteristic and quiet settlements should stop in Varenna! Riva Grande, Varenna’s lakefront, is just lovely: you will find here numerous cafes, eateries, boutiques run by local artisans, ice cream stores. Walk along the “Passeggiata degli innamorati” – Walk of Lovers, the amazing lake promenade that connects Riva Grande to the boat landing. Here you can watch boats and ferries arrive and depart, while admiring the colourful homes that light the village!

You will reach Villa Monastero, one of the most significant historical and environmental sites in the region. The complex is made up of the villa itself, which is now a museum and has a renowned conference center inside of it, and the magnificent botanical garden that surrounds it and stretches for about two kilometers along the edge of the lake. Your nature walk continues along the path called “Greenway of the Patriarchs” until you’ll reach the strange and mysterious geological phenomenon of Fiumelatte.

Discover the magic Varenna with Cristina Rovelli. Graduated in foreign languages and natural sciences, Cristina was the first woman gamekeeper in Italy, and she has been doing this job in the Orobie Alps for about twenty years. Thanks to this singular experience, in her work as a naturalistic guide he manages to convey to the public his deepest emotions towards the nature, with guided itineraries that allow you to discover the world of nature that cannot be found in books.
