Batana Boat on the Po Delta

Enjoy a eco-friendly tour on a Batana Boat on the Po Delta, trying this flat-bottomed local boat that has a long history of traversing the Valli di Comacchio.

Batanas are traditional wooden fishing boat from 4 to 8.5 meters long. The typical shape enables navigation and fishing in shallow water. Since they were constructed using locally available materials on the first floors of the houses, the size of the boat was determined by the length of the room, and for this reason there are no two batanas that are exactly the same in size.

This sustainainable tour with a Batana Boat on the Po Delta is for two people. You will sail surrounded by an oasis of peace, cradled by the flow of the water and the chirpings of the water birds. Valli di Comacchio is series of connected brackish lagoons located south of Comacchio, near the Adriatic coast of Emilia Romagna.

Landscapes, flora and fauna are among the main attractions that the Comacchio Valleys offer. Those who love being in contact with nature will find in this vast area a small earthly paradise. Classified as a “Site of Community Interest and Special Protection Area” within the Regional Park of the Po Delta of Emilia-Romagna, of which it is an integral part, this destination today is of considerable importance as regards the presence and conservation of biodiversity. In fact, there are numerous rare and endangered species that reproduce here, especially birdlife, among which the delightful pink flamingo stands out.
