If you’re looking for an exclusive sustainable beekeeping experience, here you will have the chance to get to know bees more close! You will spend a couple of hours together with Lorenzo to discover these beautiful insects, useful and fascinating, from birth to honey harvest.
You will start with a theoretical introduction, which will help you to get the first knowledge on the beekeeper’s tools and the beehive structure. Then, a practical part will follow, and you will actively take part to the visit to a beehive (you will be provided with proper protections), in search of the Queen’s Bee, discovering how a colony of bees is organized and structured.
This beekeeping experience will take place in an olive grove that has been abandoned for about 25 years that Lorenzo is now trying to recover. You will also meet his two Dexter calves who live in the nature all the year according to Voisin rational grazing method, a methodology and project that Lorenzo will explain you about during the visit. At the end of the experience, you can relax admiring the landscape with a tasting of honey, homemade focaccia and other typical foods. The location of this eco-friendly experience is settled in the Tuscany countryside outside of Florence: shuttle service to/from the town can be arranged upon availability.
