The historic estate of Monaci delle Terre Nere Wine and Resort is located on the slopes of Mount Etna, the largest active volcano in Europe. With dramatic views over the volcano and the Mediterranean, this countryside boutique hotel is a very special place. Full of extraordinary charm and natural beauty, this spot was originally chosen by the monks of St Anne’s order in the 18th Century, and the estate was restored with great care. Explore the romantic, terraced gardens, stroll through the 25-hectare estate, visit the farm and vineyards, relax by the pool, and discover its unique atmosphere for yourself.

Monaci Delle Terre Nere has been built with the features of a unique country boutique hotel with design elements. It has several rooms and suites, some in the main building – a noble dwelling of the 19th century, listed among historic buildings – and others scattered around the organic farm, which offers wide outdoor spaces and beautiful sceneries. The scattered Suites are independent buildings within the estate, where you can enjoy Monaci’s silence and true identity. Here, the traditional Sicilian architecture is combined with contemporary art. In the process of restoring the buildings, the principles of Bio-architecture have been applied and part of the energy supply comes from renewable resources. It has the soul of a discreet and unpretentious hideaway, far from the hurly burly of urban life, in a place of special energy.

An element of authenticity is that the property is fully involved in the production of what they serve to the guests. They strive for a self-sustenance supply of the in-house restaurant and the recovery of the territory, starting from farming. From the sunrise drinks on the terrace, to the herb route where guests can take a stroll in the herb garden, the slow pace of each experience at the estate has been thought to give you a precious gift: time Monaci delle Terre Nere is deeply involved in the cause of Slow Food, promoting the principles of “good, clean and fair” food among its guests.

Here everything focuses on nature and respect for the environment. Organic cultivation is the pillar the restaurant and the menu and traditional cuisine are based on fresh and km 0 products. The use of local products and the short supply chain promote small-scale development and the local economy. Furthermore, taking advantage of the richness of Etna’s terroir, Monaci grows its own vines, with indigenous varieties of the Etna region.

Monaci proposes various experiences available on the estate, such as aperitif, wine and traditional cuisine courses, holistic massages, bike rides etc.
