Fighting Against Mafia: Day Trip to Corleone

Fighting Against Mafia: Day Trip to Corleone is a very interesting tour that will allow you to uncover what’s behind the Mafia movement and Corleone. This small village brings to mind both the mythical Mafia from the Godfather movies and the real Mafia associated with the name of Totò Riina, the “Boss of all Bosses.” But during this tour, you’ll get to know Corleone beyond the clichés.

The guided tour Fighting Against Mafia: Day Trip to Corleone will chronicle the history of Corleone starting in the late nineteenth century, when the Peasant struggle was the only anti-mafia opposition. The journey will be led by an activist of a local non-profit organization. You’ll learn how some of the leaders of this mass movement, Corleone natives, were murdered by the Mafia. Consequently, they have been elevated to symbols of the liberation from the Mafia.

The journey travels through the city’s core and ascends to stunning panoramic lookout points from which you can admire the splendor of Sicily’s countryside. The “Laboratory of Legality” is also a part of it. Paintings by Sicilian artist Gaetano Porcasi, which highlight the history of the Mafia and the anti-mafia campaign in Corleone, are on display here.
