Biking Venice Countryside

Biking Venice Countryside is a bicycle tour through side roads in the vicinity of the Venice lagoon. It is the perfect opportunity to explore the rural area away from the hustle and bustle of the city! The bike tour moves from the city’s heart to rural areas, following the lovely Brenta river’s banks through lush parks and past significant historical sites and Venetian homes and villas. You will stop in Mira and its fraction Malcontenta.

Mira is a well-known tourist village: it was formerly the favorite countryside destination of the Venetians, who built a number of mansions here, including Villa Cantarini dei Leoni, where Napoleon spent some time. Villa Foscari, also known as “la Malcontenta” from the name of the village where is located, is the only Palladian villa along the Brenta Canal. The Palladian villas are villas designed during the Renaissance by the genius of the architect Andrea Palladio and they are scattered in Veneto region. Declared part of the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1994, they are considered the most important Palladio masterpieces.

Villa Foscari – La Malcontenta is unique among all the other Venetian villas since it was designed as a real suburban home rather than a farm-house at the center of agricultural activity. Don’t miss the opportunity to admire it! For this reason and many others, Biking Venice Countryside is truly an unmissable tour. Overall, the experience last approximately 4-5 hours and finishes in Dolo, a friendly hamlet with a historic water mill and “squero.”
